Nestled up against the McDowell Mountains in North Scottsdale is the master planned community of McDowell Mountain Ranch. For many years what is now McDowell Mountain Ranch was the property of the Herberger family until they sold their 3200 acre ranch to Newhall Land & Farming. As part of the transaction it was stipulated that some of the land be set aside for public use and in 1994 900 acres was donated to the City of Scottsdale. The remaining 2300 acres were developed into the award-winning community that we now know as McDowell Mountain Ranch.
McDowell Mountain Ranch now has about 4000 homes spread throughout 26 distinct neighborhood. Prices for homes start at about $300K and go up to over $3 million for custom built homes.
